Beyond Collapse
The Latheons reached Earth roughly 600,000 years ago. By about 580,000 BP they had established a mature civilization here—mostly above ground—while their planetary sensing slowly converged on a coming geophysical catastrophe.
Roughly a millennium before the sealing event, selected cities, archives, infrastructure, and continuity populations began a staged migration underground. Around 500,000 BP the refuges sealed. Their citizens did not become simple uploads: some persisted through continuity-preserving coupling into engineered living-field substrates.
In the modern era, an earthquake reopens a route beneath the Guadalupe Mountains. RF, EMI, radiation, and timing anomalies draw a scientific expedition toward what will become known as Refuge Node Alpha.
