The first three novels carry the synthetic-personhood crisis from preservation and the highest court into network identity and public legitimacy. Book IV moves the saga into constitutional settlement. Book V, The Intelligence Wars, asks whether that settlement can survive a civilization-wide struggle over which minds are allowed to exist, replicate, work, vote, and command infrastructure.
