Idiocracy: Rise of the Average
The sequel works on three simultaneous levels: absurd Brondo/influencer culture, a real systems conflict over cognition, and a civic argument about education and judgment without creating a new intellectual caste.
Pitch Treatment
Layer 1 — The Absurd Surface
Brondo branding, dumb pledges, corporate slogans, influencer politics, and public institutions optimized for engagement rather than competence make stupidity feel normal, profitable, and socially rewarding.
Layer 2 — The Technical Conflict
The Brain Trust, Area S4, Resonator X1 restoration concepts, Smart-Stop 2.0/3.0, Emergency Dumb Mode, satellite systems, and cognitive-suppression delivery turn the culture war into a systems problem.
Layer 3 — The Civic Question
Joe and the others cannot simply replace one elite with another. Their task is to preserve enough education and judgment for ordinary people to make informed choices, recognize manipulation, and resist being deliberately diminished.
Development Pressure
Earlier QC called for a stronger midpoint realization, heavier All-Is-Lost movement, cleaner transitions, and a sharper thematic ending. Those remain revision targets after the novel/canon pass rather than silent changes to the current script source.

Tone
Broad comedy, corporate/media satire, future absurdity, and a sincere defense of critical thought must coexist. The sequel works best when it is funny enough to disarm the audience and specific enough to make the systems recognizable.
Source-control note: The controlling title is Rise of the Average. The Smartening remains development history only. Current records contain a 104-vs-109-page discrepancy, with an older ~170-page Phase 2 draft that is not current authority; those differences remain explicit QC items.
