Rights & IP Coordination

Defines how Aurora Design Studios separates public-facing pitch material from protected IP, unpublished manuscripts, scripts, treatments, and franchise bibles.

Ownership Chain

Confirm author ownership and collaboration agreements before outside review.

Derivative Rights

Track film, television, book, comic, game, audio, merchandising, and sequel rights separately.

Release Control

Use versioned PDFs and logged review copies for professional submissions.

Chain-of-title foundation

Before a publisher, producer, licensee, or distributor can rely on a property, Aurora must be able to trace who created each material element, what was commissioned or licensed, which third-party sources were used, and what rights remain available.

Authorship records

Dated drafts, revision history, notes, registrations, contracts, contributor credits, and documentation of human creative decisions.

Licensed material

Fonts, stock assets, reference images, music, software, commissioned art, research sources, and all related permission or usage terms.

AI-assisted production

Records distinguishing author-controlled conception, selection, revision, arrangement, and final expression from appreciable machine-generated material where disclosure matters.

Rights schedule

Right Status questions Typical records
Book publication Which language, territory, formats, and editions are granted or retained? Publishing contract, amendments, reversion notices, royalty statements.
Audio / translation Who controls licensing and which deals or territories remain open? Agency authorization, sublicense, translator/narrator agreements, accounting.
Dramatic rights Are film, television, animation, stage, or audio-drama rights available? Option, shopping, attachment, purchase, writing, and turnaround documents.
Derivative uses Who controls games, comics, merchandise, characters, titles, sequels, and spin-offs? License schedules, approvals, style/canon rules, quality control, termination.

Release-control standard

  • Every external review copy carries an exact title, revision, date, and intended recipient.
  • Submissions use only assets cleared for that audience and purpose.
  • Public website images are not automatically cleared for book covers, advertising, merchandise, or screen production.
  • Rights availability is checked again immediately before negotiation or signature.
  • Executed agreements and amendments become the authority over informal emails or assumptions.
